Day #31: TGIF.

Today was very...strange. Just a very bizarre day at work. Perhaps it is just because it was my third day in a row being on the side with the psych rooms. Or maybe it's because I live in a weird town. Full moon? Let's google search this.

Nope, not a full moon. However, I did discover this fun fact:

August 2012 will feature not 1 but 2 full moons.
The full moon occurs once every 29.5 days. This essentially means that there is one full moon every month. However, as we know, every month but February has at least 30 days in it, which presents the potential for two full moons in a month.  August 2012 - is one of these unique months, which will have two full moons. There will be a full moon on August 2nd, and then another full moon on August 31st.  So those of us whom are superstitious in regards to full moons will have two special days in August of 2012.  The term Blue Moon can refer to the second full moon in a given month. When people say "once in a blue moon" they are speaking to the rarity of the occurrence of a second moon happening in the same given month.

That is your fun, random fact for the day!

I also want to start something different with my blog. Every Friday I will feature the week's top five. I'll think of a unique name for this blog feature later. Anyways, I will list 5 things from the week, either a product that I like, an event in my life, a new blog that I find enjoyable, etc The sky's the limit. Any suggestions are welcome!

Ok, let's start.

Big, Beautiful & Broke's Friday Five:

1. Mirabella Prime
While I was getting my hair done this week, the salon offered a free mini make-up consultation. You could pick from a variety of demonstrations like applying eye make-up, blush, etc. I chose foundation. I have been searching for the perfect foundation since I have been wearing make-up. I wish I could do my make-up like a professional, however I am NOT that skilled. Thanks to modern technology, I have been watching video tutorials to master this girly skill. Anyways, I fell in love with this product. Mirabella prime! All you have to do is apply a pea-size drop to your face prior to putting on your foundation. It makes your face very soft and gives you a fresh look.

Primers work much like a moisturizer under your foundation does: they ease the application of foundation and are meant to create a barrier between foundation and skin. I highly recommend it!

I found this blog on Pinterest while searching through the Hair and Beauty pins. It is the blog of a woman who shows hair tutorials, outfits, make-up, etc. I love her. She has great posts providing hair and make-up advice, crafting ideas, products she enjoys, and lots of other stuff. I immediately loved this blog and recommend woman of all ages check her out. She is basically what I aspire to be. A girly-girl who works, blogs and crafts. Check her out!

3. The Newsroom
My husband introduced me to this show, which airs Sunday's at 10 pm on HBO. It's great show which chronicles a fictional behind-the-scenes look at a newsroom. Jeff Daniels is the main character, who plays an anchorman. It's witty and it's fun remembering the events it chronicles (Bin Laden death announcement, riots in Egypt, etc).

4. THREE DAY WEEKEND!
That is right. I have the next 3 days off. This is definitely worth celebrating.

Lamarr Woodley went to high school in the town I group in. He donated $60,000 so that kids can play sports in school...FOR FREE! Otherwise, in order to participate each child would have to pay a fee. AMAZING!

Okay, I hope you enjoyed the very first Friday Top FIVE!

Until tomorrow,

Big, Beautiful & Broke... Chelsea

PS Tomorrow's entry will likely be late...because Hubby and I are going to the TIGERS GAME!
