Goals/Wishlist

Hello lovelies...It's time again for goals and a wishlist. Now, I know what you are thinking (if you're an avid reader of this blog)...I suck at completing goals. It's sad but true. However, I still make them and make a wishlist. It's good for the soul.

Or something.

I started working out again sooooo first goal...make it a habit, go 3x a week minimally for the next month.

Second, I spend too much money. So second goal, spend less and save at least $100 over the next month.

It's best if we start small here given my history.

So, here's my wish list. If I meet my goals, I get to pick one thing to buy. I only have two things:

How cute are these??!? That's all for now...

Until next time,

Thug Kitchen

Coming up to my 30th birthday I decided to update my bucket list, or "30 before 30" list and turn it into a 40 before 40 list. One of my goals is to cook my way through an entire cookbook. Seems easy right?

Wrongo.

Why? Here are the problems. I am a super picky eater, especially when it comes to meats. For example, I don't like pork products at all (yes, this includes bacon). Don't judge. Finding a cookbook without pork recipes isn't so easy, mmmkay. Unless...unless you find a vegan cookbook.

Here's the second problem...I'm not a vegan. Tofu? No thanks. However, what if you take a vegan cookbook and change the recipes to include meats? Well, that's what I am doing. Before I reveal the cookbook, let me discuss the last problem and why this goal is on my 40 before 40 list.

I don't cook. I don't hate cooking, but I'm not that great at it. And I have a hard time thinking of good recipes.

There you have it. The issues. Now the cookbook:

Thug Kitchen. Yup. Full of vegan recipes and swear words. With my potty mouth and complete lack of cooking skill, this shit should be interesting.

30 before 30...turns into 40 before 40.

30 before 30? Probably not going to happen since I am turning 30 in a few days. That doesn't mean however, that these goals can't be turned into a 35 before 35 or 40 before 40 though right?

Wow. Typing "40 before 40" just gave me chest pains. Why am I so afraid of getting older? 40 is the new 30 right? So...30 is the new 20? I have heard that 30's are much better than your 20's. I guess we will find out. Am I too old to blog? You're never too old to blog right? Yep. Typing "40" made all those random thoughts run through my head at about 100 miles per hour. Yikes.

Okay, let's turn this into a "40 Before 40" list. Eek. I wonder if I can get my husband to make one too? Of course, I have 10 years to complete mine, he will have only 2 years. I have a weird comfort in that - ha. Love you bade. Okay, here we go:

30 Before 30 (Revamped List)

I turned 29 in March. Twenty-friggin-nine. Which means I will be turning the dirty 30 next year. I'm really not excited about this. I have read multiple articles and books where women discuss their thirties being the best years- you have your life together more so than in your twenties.
I mean, I would like to think in less than year I will have my crap together more so than I do now but I'm not so sure. Anyways, I made a "30 before 30" list (see the blog post here) last March. It needs a little revising however, as some of my goals have changed. Here's the list with the changed goals in bold next to the old one:

1. Lose 100 lbs (unrealistic with less than a year to do this...) Lose 50 lbs
2. Run a 5K
3. Pay off 1/2 our debt (unrealistic...student loans...yikes) Pay off 1/2 our credit debt
4. Have $10,000 in savings (Might be unrealistic...going to try to get as close as possible!)
5. Finish Grad School (Yeah, I won't be graduating until December 2015...so I will be 30...It just won't be before I turn 30)
6. Find a teaching job
7. Go on a honeymoon
8. Finish our bathroom
9. Learn to cook (Better) (I've learned one new recipe...does that count?)
10. Run a successful home (what does this mean?) Revamp a piece of old furniture
11. Write a book (kind over this...writing books...not my thing) Do the color run (5k)
12. Take a sewing class Landscape the front yard
13. Take a photography class
14. Visit Las Vegas
15. Own a DSLR camera
16. Buy a bicycle
17. Learn to french braid
18. Attend a blogging conference (Don't care to anymore...) Attend a nursing conference out of state
19. Gym...3x's/week habit
20. Get another tattoo
21. Get pregnant (discussed with the husband...going to wait to try until he is done with nursing school so, before I'm 32?) Landscape the backyard...or at least pull out all the dead trees and shrubs!
22. Have family pictures taken
23. Sell 100 items on Etsy (Closed my Etsy shop...so nope!) Get a new front door. Mine is ugly.
24. Learn new make-up techniques
25. Buy an expensive purse
26. Take a 2 week vacation
27. Have a boudoir picture session
28. Learn another language
29. Buy a piece of jewelry from Tiffany's
30. Be happy and comfortable!

August Wish-List and Goals

Oh, friends. I am failing miserably.

I can not get motivated to get up every morning and work-out. Why could I do this before and now I can't seem to jump on the work-out band wagon. Why can't I get motivated? I want to lose weight. I used to love working out. However, somehow, I can't seem to get up in the mornings and go.

What is wrong with me? Any inspiring words?

So, anyways, here is a recap of my July goals:

Saved $100...but then spent it on a weekend getaway. Success or no?

I lost 5 lbs....and gained it back.

I did not learn any new recipes.

Oh well, here is August's goals:

Now onto the August wish-list:

Two. Light Wash Destructed Denim from Torrid

July Wish-List and Goals

Okay, it's time to review my June Goals. To remind you, here they are:

I have crossed out #1 because I did one OOTD fashion post. It's at least better than no posts right? I did not do a craft post, boo to me. I managed to save over $50 (wee!) and I did start going to the gym again (okay, 2 days ago I started, but it counts...right?)

So, I did better this month than last month. Time to make some goals for July:

Wish-list:

Four. Fashion Leather Tote listed on eBay

Day #321: Yearly Goals

Okay, so it is kind of early to start thinking about goals for next summer and generally "yearly" goals are made in January as New Years Resolutions, however, I have some goals in mind and I want to document them to see if I meet these goals.

Goal #1:
Run in a 5k next summer (2014)

My brother and parents are also going to train and run with me. I wonder if I will inspire Bob to do the same??

Goal #2:
Deposit $25 from each paycheck into my "untouchable" savings account, which means I will have at least $600 in there. Not a ton, but a good start for someone who sucks at budgeting.

Okay, so, only two goals so far, but good ones I think! Now that 12 hour shifts are behind me, I am done with excuses. I want to go to the gym every morning before work and then hopefully go for walks after dinner with Bob and the dog each night. Just need to get started. Motivating words are welcome!

Day #319: June Goals and Wish-List

Okay, it is time again for my monthly goals and wish-list! To read my very first goals and wish-list post, click here.

I have learned that I really suck at monthly goals. Oui. Here were the goals for May:

I did NOT succeed. Zero craft tutorials, no blog and no gym. I did save $50 thanks to selling my old clothes on Poshmark. Fail.

Okay, here are my June goals:

Fashion posts...I need to get on this. I always say I am going to do it, then I don't. Mostly I am embarrassed to take pictures of myself. Also, I want to do a craft tutorial, just need to find one to do!!

Saving money isn't that bad, especially since I am selling fool on Poshmark. And the gym. I am running out of excuses. I am now a Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 worker so I can go before or after work. I need to!

Here's my wish-list:

Four. Chuck Taylor's in "Aruba Blue" (more like Tiffany blue!)

I am determined to get something on my wish-list this month. Here's hoping!

Day #291: May Goals & Wish-List

I literally just realized that it's May 5. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

So, I am way late on my monthly goals. Yikes!

Here is a list of my April goals:

Guess what? FAIL!!!! Yup. We saved $50. I did not go to the gym. And mother nature did NOT allow us to work in the yard. It rained and rained and rained and rained to the point of flooding.

So, May needs to be better.

So, the everyone month goals stand. Gym & save money. Maybe this time I will succeed? Also, I want to spice up the blog this month. Maybe vlog? Although I have to figure out how and what to use. Also, I need to find some fun crafts and make some tutorials. Okay, here is my wish-list:

Three. Fuchsia Basket Weave Sandals from Torrid
Four. Nike Detroit Tigers Track Jacket from Dick's Sporting Goods

Day #279: Five for 5

Okay friends, I am totally blanking out on my blogger duties. This weekend seriously tired me out! So, for the first time I am joining Jenn over at Party of One in her weekly "Five for Five", where you list your five goals for the next five days!

So, here goes:

1. Go the gym
Tuesday (today) and Wednesday I am off, so I have no excuses for NOT going to the gym.

2. List more items on Poshmark
I have sold many items already! So instead of the clothes taking up space in my closet, I am selling them. Much more lucrative, especially since I only wear about 60% of what is hanging in there.

3. Clean the floors
The kitchen and family room floors are in desperate need of sweeping AND mopping.

4. Get caught up on my sponsor post and giveaway.
I'm totally slacking. I can't wait until this semester is DONE!

5. Start reading a book
I haven't read a book since last summer when I was off of school. And since I am almost done, it's about time I start another one!

So, there you have it! My five goals for the week. What are yours?? Link-up with Jenn by clicking here!

Day #260: Monthly Goals and Wish-List

This is a little late, but I did TERRIBLE on my March goals. Here's a recap:

Okay, I saved like $79. Barely. It's gone now in fact, but I saved it until yesterday.

I mostly avoided sweets and baked goods. I did eat cake on Shannon's birthday, which I felt counted as my birthday cake (bdays are 3 days apart). I also had some ice cream. heh...But I didn't have sweets as much as I normally do!

I lost 9 lbs. Gained back 2 lbs. Oui.

Alas, it's a new month and a new start. Here are my April goals and wish-list:

Day #230: 30 Before 30

I have seen a lot of bloggers post lists of 30 things they want to accomplish before they turn 30. Since my 28th birthday is looming (March 26...eeek!) I figured it would be a good time to do the same thing. I figure 2 years is long enough to accomplish most, if not all of the list?

Here is my 30 Things Before 30 list:

Day #227: Month Review and New Goals/Wishlist

For those who are new to the blog, each month I make a goals list and a wish-list. If I meet all of my goals for the month, I reward myself with something from my wish-list. It (sort-of) helps keep me on track.

Okay, so as a reminder here were my February goals:

1. I kind of cleaned the craft room, although it still needs work. However, thanks to help from my husband, the mess the ferrets made is now gone.

2. I put well over $100 into my savings account. Nearly $500.

3. I added lots of items to the Etsy shop! Around 15.

So, I did purchase a DSLR camera, which as you can see was on my wish-list. I got an awesome deal from a man who upgraded to a newer camera. I am in love so far. Used or not, it works excellent!

Day #169: 13 Goals for 2013

Thirteen Goals for 2013

1. Become fiscally responsible. I posted about Dave Ramsey's Snowball plan back in October (read it here). I want to put this plan in action this year. I am taking out my full student loan this semester. It's low interest so I am going to pay off 2-3 credit cards with it and put money into savings. This will help us jumpstart our snowball plan to pay off all of our debt.

2. Work on being a healthy individual. I am overweight, which I am okay with. But I would be more okay with it, if I was more health conscious. I eat crappy food, mostly because I am so busy. I work full-time, I'm a student part-time and a blogger part-time. I am always on the go. I want need to be more healthy.

3. Be more active. I used to work out 3-5 times week. I would love to start doing this again. I felt so much better when I was more active. I feel like such a slug now.

4. Set up a cleaning schedule. I have posted many schedules I have found on Pinterest. I want to actually sit down with Bob and develop one that works for us.

5. Take a vacation. We haven't gone on a honeymoon. Our dream honeymoon is a 2 week trip. One week in Punta Cana and one week in Washington DC. We want to spend a week relaxing, getting massages, sitting in the sand and drinking fruity drinks. We want to spend another week visiting Washington DC and going to museums. We love museums. However, this dream honeymoon  probably won't happen for a couple of years. Still, we'd like to get out of town. Maybe Las Vegas...or Florida. We have friends and family in both places, making it an affordable trip (no hotel fees! woot!)  I also want to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

6. Learn how to sew. My awesome mother-in-law gave me a Singer sewing machine. My mom showed me how to thread a bobbin and the machine. Now I just have to find some easy projects to learn on!

7. Start a plus-size fashion blog. There's so many awesome fashion blogs out and I want to do it too! I love shopping, love clothes, shoes, make-up, etc. I know there's some great plus-size fashion blogs out there and I want to be part of it! Which will bring me to my next goal...

8. Buy a new camera and learn how to take some fashion pics! I am looking at a Nikon or Canon...I just need to save some money to invest in a good camera!

9. Start graduate school and maintain a high GPA. I would be happy staying at a 3.5 and above. Last semester hurt me. I want to do great in grad school!

10. Promote my Etsy store more and continue to add new items. I didn't add anything new while I was in school. I am trying to crochet more and have a more diverse selection.

11. Try to see my friends more. Between school, work and blogging I forget that I haven't seen people in months. Or since my wedding. Which was in June. And that makes me sad!

12. Have more date nights with Bob. We used to have date nights a couple times a month. Now we just sit at home and watch TV...which is fun too. But it's also fun to have date nights!

13. Read more books. Other than textbooks, I think I read 3 books last year. Which, of course, was the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. Oui.
