StitchFix #1 Review

Gosh, I really suck at this blogging thing. It's been a long time but life gets busy, so I don't feel that bad...but thanks to those who have stuck with me!!
Recently a friend of mine introduced me to Stitch Fix. I received my first box yesterday and today on a whim, decided to blog about it. I don't have pictures of me in all of the items, so I will try to be better at taking pictures with my next fix.
Stitch Fix is a personal styling service that you can sign up for online or through an app, which is what I did. It was fun and easy! You fill out a style profile - I highly recommend linking a Pinterest style board, which is what I did. This allows the stylist who is assigned to your fix to really see what your sense of style is without meeting or talking to you. You also get a chance to ask for items that interest you. Anyways, the stylist will "create your fix" and you will receive 5 items. You have 3 business days to review, try on and decide which items you'd like to keep or send back.
The styling fee is $20, which you can use towards any items that you purchase. If you purchase all 5 items from the fix, then you also get 25% off - but only if you buy ALL five items. A prepaid envelope is included to send the items back that you don't want to purchase.
Here's my first fix:

So, I didn't have the forethought to take pictures of the items I tried on and didn't keep. Yes, I suck at this blogging thing. I will get better. I promise.

So, I ended up keeping one sweater and a scarf. The sweater was so soft and comfy. And it has elbow patches. Who doesn't LOVE elbow patches?!?!

So, I have to say - I love StitchFix. My stylist knocked my first box out of the park. I really loved everything in the box but due to budget considerations, I did not purchase all 5 items. I can't wait for my second and third and fourth and fifth...(etc, you get the picture) boxes!!

March 2015 IPSY Glam Bag Review

It has been awhile, but I am still a loyal subscriber to the IPSY glam bag. I love every month and find that is well worth the $10/month. What is the glam bag, you ask? Allow me to enlighten you:
IPSY glam bag is a monthly subscription service, that provides the member with a cute bag filled with deluxe and full-size beauty samples. The glam bag samples are tailored to each member based off of a quiz that take when you first join. If your style preferences change, you can re-take the quiz at any time! The bag is $10/month. Members can share their glam bag with other members, swap tips and tricks, and you can buy full size products at discounted prices. It's fantastic.
This month's glam bag theme is: Flower Power - which makes sense, since spring is right around the corner!

1. Boo-Boo Coverup Concealer - Medium Shade - 4mL sample - Retail Value $8.00

I used this today and it worked pretty well. It went on smooth and covered up blemishes and scars. I'm not sure I would pay the retail value for it, because I have other concealers I like that are cheaper...but I will keep trying out the sample to see if I like it more...sometimes these things grow on me.

2. Acure Day Cream - 30mL (1 oz) Retail Value $19.99

I have tested this one out yet - stay tuned!

3. NYX Butter Lipstick - Pops - Full size Retail $6.00

I like the color of lipstick I received - Pops. I like a more subtle look to lipstick and this is pretty subtle. I hope you enjoy my close-up below. It went on smooth and the colored stayed for awhile.

4. Pixi by Petra Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow 0.03 oz - sample retail $1.95

I liked this bronzer - I think I might buy the full-size option. It is also subtle, but gives you a nice glow.

5. Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels - 2 packs - Retail $30 for 8 pairs ($7.50 for 2 packs)

I haven't tried this product out yet either - but I have to be up in 3 hours to work a 12-hour day, so it is likely I will have a reason to try them out tomorrow!

Total Retail Value of glam bag: $43
Not too shabby for the sweet price of $10!

Also, since I did state in my previous post that I would be focusing on weight loss for the next year, I signed up for a 6-month subscription to BuluBox - my first box is set to ship on April 15th...I will share my goodies with you!

Klutchclub "Best of" Box

This week I kind of fell of the Insanity wagon. I went on Monday and Tuesday, but with the unexpected death of my cousin, I was thrown off course. Trust me, I would have rather done 2 Insanity sessions a day rather than attend the viewing and funeral of my 34-year-old cousin, but that's not what happened. I finally received the Insanity DVD's so I can now do the work-outs at home on days that I do not have class. That's what I plan to do today. I also ordered the Insanity Upper Body Weight Training DVD because I love that work-out. I want to buy some weights and add that work-out to my routine several times a week.

So, in an effort to eat better I purchased the "Best of Klutchclub" box. The sad thing about my diet is that I do not know how to eat healthy. Isn't that terrible? In a world of fast food and meals full of preservatives, I have fallen victim to taking the easy way out. Luckily, my body hasn't been effected. I had my physical a couple weeks ago and despite being 292lbs, I don't have diabetes or high cholesterol. In fact, my labs are perfect. Which means, it's time to get my ass in gear before this changes. Anyways, I remember my friend Amber giving away a subscription to Klutchclub a while ago on my blog. I decided to order the Best Of box so I could get some ideas of some healthy items to add to my diet. Here's what I received:

As you can see, I received quite a bit of stuff. The "Best Of.." box is $25 and it's a one time purchase. Klutchclub is a $10/month subscription box in which you receive 9-12 health and wellness products each month. Again, I chose the Best of box simply because I wanted to try out some healthy foods and products. For more information on Klutchclub, click here.

I haven't had time to try any of the items, but I plan to try them all this week. While I update on the Insanity challenge this week, I will also let you know how the items are as I try them.

Food Items:
1. Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers
2. Nature's Bakery Whole Wheat Raspberry Fig Bar
3. Happy Squeeze Pomegranate, Blueberry & Pear fruit squeeze
4. Happy Squeeze Strawberry Kiwi Beet fruit squeeze
5. 1st Step Liquid Vitamin B12
6. Tea of a Kind flavored Tear in Citrus Mint Green Tea
7. Annie Chun's Roasted Seaweed Snacks
8. Celsius Orange flavor drink mix

Non-Food Items:
1. Shower Pill Athletic Body Wipe
2. 100% Pure lotion samples in: vanilla bean, honey almond, and cabernet grape

I also received:
-$75 gift card to Bistro MD
-Coupon for Happy Squeeze products
-$5 off Tea of Kind products
-3 month free subscription to YogaVibes
-25% off all orders at Celsius.com

Have you tried Klutchclub? What did you think?

Rocks Box #6

Back in April or May I read some reviews on blogs about a subscription service called "RocksBox". RocksBox is a jewelry subscription in which you pay $19 a month and you receive 3 high end pieces of jewelry to wear for three months. As a member you can either buy one or all of the pieces of jewelry for a discounted price OR you can send them back and receive three more pieces to buy. It is like "Bag, Borrow or Steal" I think, wear you can rent purses...except you are renting jewelry.

RocksBox sends you an envelope with return postage included to send the box back. Any items you want to purchase, you keep and an invoice is sent. Any items you don't want to buy, you send back and receive 3 new pieces in a few days.

You can read my past RocksBox reviews here.

Chaplin Bracelet by Gorjana: I liked this bracelet, except it was a little small for my wrists. It fit, but I was afraid if I moved a certain way it would break. Then I would have to buy it...no thanks!

Retail Price: $50.00
Member's Price: $40.00

Wishbone Necklace in Silver by Urban Gem: I love, love, love this necklace! It is simple and dainty. I received several compliments on it. I would buy it, but I think I could find a charm and make the necklace myself for cheaper.

Retail Price: $41.00
Member's Price: $32.80

Giant Drop Earrings in Silver and Blue by Lucas Jack: I liked these earrings too. They are super cute and I love the color. However, I can't justify the price.

Retail Price: $79.00
Member's Price: $63.20

This is definitely one of my favorite boxes so far! What do you think?

First of all, the bag is super cute! I love it. Here's the contents:

One. Freeman Facial Paper Masks (I received 3): Rose, Star Fruit, and Blue Agave. I haven't used them yet, but I am excited to try them out!! Each one is recommended for certain skin types, see below:

Rose - Dull skin
Star Fruit - Oily/Combo Skin
Blue Agave - Dry Skin

Retail price: $1.99/each

Two. Starlooks Obsidian Kohl Eye Pencil: I love receiving a great eyeliner. This one is great, it glids across you lids with ease.

Retail Price: $12.00

Three. Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple: This color is a little red for my liking,  I would have preferred a pink or nude shade. I haven't worn it much yet though, so maybe it will grow on me.

Retail Price: $19.00

Four. Elizabeth Mott Volumizing Mascara (4mL): Again, I love getting mascara. I am always in need! This one is nice, doesn't seem to clump but I have only used it once.

Retail Price: $19.99 for 10mL, so $2.50

Five. NYX Eye Shadow in Nutmeg: I haven't used this yet, but it is a pretty shade...kind of a rose gold if that makes sense. I haven't used it yet. Between work and Insanity, I have been slacking on putting on nice make-up!

Retail Price: $4.50

Bag retail price: approximately $43.97

Bag price: $10.00

Not too shabby!!

August Glam Bag Reveal

August's Theme: Glamour Academy

$3.99

This lip balm makes my lips feel smooth and taste yummy! I am not a huge cherry fan but this lip balm is pretty good.

$18.00

I don't really like coloring my eyebrows...I think it looks weird on me. So I will probably give this away to someone who will use it.

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream 0.34 fl oz
$16.00

Cream to hydrate, prime and illuminate skin. I haven't used it but I love all the Pacifica products I have received so far!

I love Pixi products! This mascara works great, I used it the other night! I'm not sure I would pay $17 for mascara...

You can read my past RocksBox reviews here.

Daphne Hoops in Grey Agate by Gorjana
Retail Price: $95.00
Member's Price: $76.00

I like hoop earrings and these ones are pretty cute. I haven't worn them yet, but I could easily sneak them on with a cute outfit. While they are cute, I wouldn't pay $76 for them.

Falling Leaf Earrings in Gold by Urban Gem
Retail Price: $35.00
Member's Price: $28.00

I think these earrings are super cute. I love leaf jewelry for whatever reason. And I thought about actually buying them because the jewelry is supposed to be "designer" and I figured that meant not cheap gold plated jewelry findings. However, I wore them out one night and my ears hurt the next day. I developed little knots, which is what happens when I wear cheap metal earrings. I was super bummed.

Petra Tri-Color Necklace in Teal/Mint/Aqua by Loren Hope
Retail Price: $125.00
Member's Price: $100.00

I love, love, love this statement necklace!! The colors are beautiful. I wore it yesterday and it was very comfortable and definite added a little something to my outfit. The problem? I would NEVER pay $100 for a necklace.

All in all, I liked this box. I think I could the most use out of the pieces. What do you think?

Rocks Box #3

Back in April or May I read some reviews on blogs about a subscription service called "RocksBox". RocksBox is a jewelry subscription in which you pay $19 a month and you receive 3 high end pieces of jewelry to wear for three months. As a member you can either buy one or all of the pieces of jewelry for a discounted price OR you can send them back and receive three more pieces to buy. RocksBox sends you an envelope with return postage included to send the box back. Any items you want to purchase, you keep and an invoice is sent. Any items you don't want to buy, you send back and receive 3 new pieces in a few days.

You can see #1 here and #2 here.

I didn't really like the first or second box. Box #3 was definitely more right on.

And here is #3:

Sterling Silver Mystic Quartz Post Earrings by Charles Albert

Retail Price: $156.00
Member Price: $124.50

These earrings are definitely me. I love stud earrings. My only complaint is these earrings are very heavy and I felt them pull on my ear lobes. I only made it a couple hours wearing them. Definitely not worth $150 though.

Baguette Bracelet in Grey by Urban Gem

Retail Price $64.00
Member Price: $51.20

I love this bracelet. I wore it out to dinner the other nice and I felt myself admiring it quite a bit. It is definitely my style. However, I wouldn't say I love it enough to pay $51.20.

Anchor Necklace in Silver by Gorjana

Retail Price: $50
Member Price: $40

Another piece that is me. It is simple and I am loving anchors lately. I worse this necklace twice and I absolutely love it. But again, I wouldn't spend $40 on it.

So, definitely an improvement RocksBox. Nice work.

The Second RocksBox

So, this is the second RocksBox I received. You can see the first box here.

I will say that this box was better than the second. However, I'm still not super happy with it. Here are each of the pieces:

Petra Earrings in Orchid/Tangerine by Loren Hope
Retail Price: $68.00
Member's Price: $54.40

Not a fan of these earrings. The colors are pretty but these really aren't my style. Definitely not worth $50.

Bloom Disc Drop Earrings in Coral by Gorjana
Retail Price: $65.00
Member's Price: $52.00

These are more my style. More dainty. Love the color and the simple design. I wouldn't pay $52 for them, but they are cute and worth wearing a couple times!

Light as a Feather Necklace in Rose Gold by Urban Gem
Retail Price: $68.00
Member's Price: $54.40

I liked this necklace, it was cute and simple. I prefer silver to gold, however I did like this necklace. I wore it twice. My only complaint is that I wish it had more length for my fat neck.

So, I am sending this box back and I am going to try ONE more box to see if they continue to improve. After you try each box you fill out a little survey saying what you liked and didn't like. Here's hoping the next one is good or I am canceling!

Have you tried RocksBox? What do you think?

Day #338: RocksBox

Back in April or May I read some reviews on blogs about a subscription service called "RocksBox". RocksBox is a jewelry subscription in which you pay $19 a month and you receive 3 high end pieces of jewelry to wear for three months. As a member you can either buy one or all of the pieces of jewelry for a discounted price OR you can send them back and receive three more pieces to buy. It is like "Bag, Borrow or Steal" I think, wear you can rent purses...except you are renting jewelry.

So, this intrigued me and I figured it was worth a try just for fun. Well, I have to say every person who wrote a review received BEAUTIFUL jewelry.

I did not.

Let's take a look. First we will talk about the ONLY piece that I liked. The purple necklace.

"Druzy By the Yard" Necklace in Amethyst by Dara Ettinger
Retail Value: $156.00

As a member, this necklace can be purchased for $124.80...uhm, I liked this necklace but I would NEVER pay $124.80 for it. I wore it one time, out to dinner. The necklace is around 20" long. I found I was afraid I would break it, a fear likely that came about because I in no way would like to pay that much money for this necklace.

Okay. Moving on...

Next, is the Coral Pave Earrings with french hook by Urban Gem
Retail Value: $65.00

Members can purchase these earrings for $52.00

Okay, these earrings are semi-cute. I like the color but overall, the cluster balls aren't really my style at all. So all in all, not a fan. Definitely not for $52.

Okay, and last but not least...Glass Cocktail ring in Blue by Made.
Retail Value: $50.00

Members can purchase this for $40.00

Now, this ring is okay. The color is pretty, however the ring is supposed to adjustable however I could barely bend the metal...and I didn't want to break it. Plus the ring is HUGE. I like big cocktail looking rings...but not necessarily THIS big.

All in all, I wasn't super pleased with this box. I mean, would I find places to incorporate the pieces? Probably...but I am returning all 3 pieces.

RocksBox sends you an envelope with return postage included to send the box back. Any items you want to purchase, you keep and an invoice is sent. Any items you don't want to buy, you send back and receive 3 new pieces in a few days.

That is what I'm doing!! Here is hoping the next 3 tickle my fancy.

Have you tried RocksBox? What did you think?

Day #335: Ipsy June Glam Bag

Only 30 days left of my "blog everyday for a year" goal. I have to admit...it's getting very difficult to come up with interesting content EVERY DAY. I think it's hurt me a bit in the blogging world. I am almost thinking of ending it early. What should my new theme be for my blog titles? Instead of starting with Day #whatever, maybe I should do like the "Friends" show titles and do something "The one with..." What do you think?

Anyways...

I love, love, love my June Glam Bag!!! The theme this month was "On the Wild Side" and it was definitely a fun bag!!

First, I love the bag!! The animal print with the neon zipper is super cute!!! Anyways, here is what I got:

Two. NYX Blush in Cocoa.
I went from needing blush to have a TON! However, I love trying new shades. I love this one!!
Value: $5.00

Three. Starlooks Lip Pencil in Bare
I don't use lip liner much, but I like experimenting.

Bag Value: $43.48
