StitchFix #1 Review

Gosh, I really suck at this blogging thing. It's been a long time but life gets busy, so I don't feel that bad...but thanks to those who have stuck with me!!
Recently a friend of mine introduced me to Stitch Fix. I received my first box yesterday and today on a whim, decided to blog about it. I don't have pictures of me in all of the items, so I will try to be better at taking pictures with my next fix.
Stitch Fix is a personal styling service that you can sign up for online or through an app, which is what I did. It was fun and easy! You fill out a style profile - I highly recommend linking a Pinterest style board, which is what I did. This allows the stylist who is assigned to your fix to really see what your sense of style is without meeting or talking to you. You also get a chance to ask for items that interest you. Anyways, the stylist will "create your fix" and you will receive 5 items. You have 3 business days to review, try on and decide which items you'd like to keep or send back.
The styling fee is $20, which you can use towards any items that you purchase. If you purchase all 5 items from the fix, then you also get 25% off - but only if you buy ALL five items. A prepaid envelope is included to send the items back that you don't want to purchase.
Here's my first fix:

So, I didn't have the forethought to take pictures of the items I tried on and didn't keep. Yes, I suck at this blogging thing. I will get better. I promise.

So, I ended up keeping one sweater and a scarf. The sweater was so soft and comfy. And it has elbow patches. Who doesn't LOVE elbow patches?!?!

So, I have to say - I love StitchFix. My stylist knocked my first box out of the park. I really loved everything in the box but due to budget considerations, I did not purchase all 5 items. I can't wait for my second and third and fourth and fifth...(etc, you get the picture) boxes!!

SlimFast VoxBox Review

I was fortunate enough to receive a SlimFast VoxBox from Influenster. I had to wait a little while to test out all of the products due to my strict diet, but I was finally able to open the box and trial the products to give them an honest review.

The box contained four products, which surprised me. When I think of SlimFast, I think of meal replacement shakes. I didn't realize they had other great products! The VoxBox included:

1 - Vanilla Creme Protein Shake
1 - 100 Calorie Snack: Sour Cream & Onion Baked Crisps
1 - 100 Calorie Cinnamon Swirl crisps
1 - Slim Fast Dark Chocolate Meal Replacement Bar

The first two products I trailed were the 100 calorie snacks. However, since I am on such a strict diet, I only tried a couple of pieces from each bag. Unfortunately, these two products have too many carbs for me to enjoy them fully!

The Sour Cream & Onion Baked Crisps were actually pretty good. They were nice and crispy, dissolved quickly in your mouth and left a nice flavor of sour cream & onion on my tongue. Before surgery, I could definitely see myself enjoy these as a snack. The nutritional facts are as follows:

Calories: 100
Total Fat: 2.5g
Total Carbs: 19g
Sugars: 1g
Protein: 2g

Sadly, not enough protein and too many carbs for this chick. I would have loved to finish the 1oz serving though!

A close up look at the baked crisps

Getting silly with the bag of chips...

The second product I tried were the cinnamon swirl crisps. Perhaps, because I haven't been allowed anything sweet in a long time, but this bag was harder to put down than the first!! They were nice and crispy, dissolved in my mouth and left a delicious cinnamon taste on my tongue. Seriously, a yummy 100 calorie snack. Nutrition facts:

Calories: 100
Total Fat: 3g
Total Carbs: 20g
Sugars: 7g
Protein: 3g

Unfortunately, the carbs and sugars killed this one for me. Again, too many for this chick to consume so only a couple of bites and I was down. However, I would recommend this snack to people. Super yummy.
If only I could eat you delicious things...
Close up view of the cinnamon swirl crisps - yum!
The third item I tried was the Vanilla Cream protein shake. Overall, the shake was good. It had a nice sweet taste and it didn't leave the gross after taste that most protein shake tend to leave. In general, I don't tend to enjoy vanilla shakes because they are too sweet tasting and this one is similar. I can drink it a little bit at a time, but I can't drink a whole shake in one sitting.

Calories: 180
Total Fat: 9g
Total Carbs: 6g
Sugars: 1g
Protein: 20g

The fourth product I received was a protein bar...which I have been too afraid to try. With my new pouch, I was sure I would be able to digest this one so unfortunately, I can not give an honest review of this product. Plus the carb content was way too high for me right now and the protein too low.

Calories: 190
Total Fat: 10g
Total Carbs: 20g
Sugars: 9g
Protein: 10g

Vanilla Cream Shake and SlimFast Dark Chocolate Sea Salt protein bar
Overall, I feel SlimFast has developed some strong products for those looking to cut calories. For a bariatric patient, most of the products won't work but that isn't unusual.

Disclaimer: I received these products free from Influenster in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for this post.

April 2015 IPSY Glam Bag

Time for a monthly IPSY glam bag review!!
What is the glam bag, you ask? Allow me to enlighten you:

The glam bag samples are tailored to each member based off of a quiz that take when you first join. If your style preferences change, you can re-take the quiz at any time! The bag is $10/month. April's Theme: Beautifully Bohemian

First of all, I love the colorful and cute bag that came this month. And as usual, it was full of great things!!

1. Redken Wind Blown 05: This hair spray works pretty good! Most hairsprays seem to just make my hair hard and doesn't hold the shape but this one worked pretty well. Retail Value: $5

2. Blush by Hikari Cosmetics in Tango: I haven't used this yet but I am always happy to try a new blush. Retail Value: $15

3. Mini Lip and Cheek Tint by Mullein and Sparrow: This little tin is amazing. It smells and tastes like fresh oranges and makes your lips feel soft and smooth. I haven't tried it as a blush yet, but I am sure smelling like oranges won't be bad!! Retail Value: $10

4. JulieG Nail Color: Super cute color and it goes on smooth. Retail Value: $3.99

5. NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single in Flirty which is a shimmering violet with gold tint. Very cute. Retail Value: $8

As always, for $10 I felt this bag was totally worth it. Who doesn't love receiving great products at a low price? Another great perk of being an Ipsy member - discounts on the products you love and want to buy more of!! Try it out!

UniVoxBox

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive the UniVoxBox from Influenster! I was really busy with school so I am just now getting around to bragging about the loot that I received. The theme was Class is in Session! The box featured products that any college girl would need!

As you can see, Influenster sent me lots of goodies to test!

Red Rose Real Tea: Black Tea
If I am being honest, I don't like tea. Yeah, I'm weird. So I gave this to my husband to test drive and he hasn't yet. Therefore, I can't give you an honest opinion on the taste since all tea tastes disgusting on my palette. Influenster also included a $1 off coupon! Retail Value: $4.99

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in Light Ivory
I love this foundation! It goes on very smooth, doesn't make me look streaky and Influenster matched my skin tone very well. Pasty pale- that's me. Retail Value: $4.99-5.50

NYC Expert Lip Last Color
In general, I enjoy NYC make-up. The lipstick applies smoothy and made my lips feel nice but the color was a little too bright for my everyday wear...even going out, bright pink isn't my color. I like nude shades. Retail Value: $2.40-2.99

imPRESS Press-On Nails
I have used imPRESS before and I really liked them. They tend to stay on for the full 7 days and the price is right. However, in my current profession I can't wear fake nails and also, the design is a little too radical for me. Retail Value: $5.99-6.99

Playtex Sport Tampons
Woohoo- who doesn't love a free box of tampins (think Kathryn Hahn in We're the Millers...get it? get it?) Anyways, tampons are tampons- Playtex has always been my choice brand and as usual, deliver a quality product. I'm not super sporty so I can't tell you whether or not these give you more protection when you are running around playing sports. Retail Value: $6.99

Pilot Acroball Pen
Another crowd pleaser- a new pen! I love pens. This pen worried me at first because I couldn't get it to write smoothly. However, after a couple of uses, I was able to get the ink flowing and it works very well! Retail Value: $2.29

Did any of you receive the UniVoxBox? What did you think of the products?

Day #239: eShakti Review

A couple weeks ago a representative from eShakti contacted me about writing a review about their clothing. The best part? I got to pick out a super cute dress!

eShakti is a website that offers simple, custom, and modestly embellished clothing at an affordable price. They offer sizes 0-36 for all their clothing. What's unique about this website? They also offer customization for only $7. You can either chose a generic size OR you can enter your measurements. I chose to enter my measurements.

I was also able to chose a longer length...I decided to go for knee length. Another option I was given was to have either pockets or no pockets. Of course, I wanted some pockets!

Honestly, I loved worked with eShakti. They have great and friendly customer service. The custom dress was shipped within 14 days and it came from overseas surprisingly fast. I think I received it 3 days after I received the shipping notice. I loved that I was able to customize the dress, especially since I am plus-size. The dress is made from a comfortable, soft cotton material. I paired it with a simple white cardigan and the following shoes from Sole Society:

I can also see dressing down with a jean jacket and flip-flops.

My only complaint about the dress is the bust. I'm not sure if I measured myself wrong or if my boobs got bigger since I ordered the dress, but every time I bend over or move, really, the dress opens in the front and my cleavage is showing. Gah! There's a button that is supposed to hold it together, but my boobs prevent that from happening.

Also, I think I should have thought more about what I picked. I got really excited and just picked! A halter dress? Probably NOT the best thing for my shape and size.

Overall though, I am happy with the dress and the service eShakti provided. I would definitely recommend you try them out!

eShakti also kindly, extended the coupon code offered to my readers until March 20!! Don't miss out!

What are you waiting for?? Shop til you drop!

Disclaimer: I was provided the dress by eShakti to review. However, the opinions in this review are my own.

Day #233: Firmoo Review + Friday Top 5

Disclosure: This is sponsored post. I was contacted by a representative from Firmoo to do a review of one of their products. I was not compensated for my review, however I was provided a pair of glasses free of charge. All opinions are 100% my own. I was asked to give an honest review and was not asked to give any false opinions.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard of Firmoo by now. What's Firmoo? Seriously? Well, let me enlighten you!

Firmoo is an online glasses retailer, selling affordable eye-glasses around the globe. Unlike other online retailers, Firmoo offers new customers their first pair of eyeglasses for FREE

Why order from Firmoo
1. First pair FREE!

2. They offer Virtual Try-On System. You either upload a picture of yourself OR take one with your web-cam. Then you are able to "try on" the glasses, to ensure you are ordering a pair that you like and that look fabulous on you!

As I've said before, in my old age I have grown to love glasses. I still wear contacts, but it is becoming rare. Glasses are quickly becoming a must-have accessory in my wardrobe. They instantly upgrade your look of modern,sexy, vintage or geek by wearing different styles of frames.

Any hot glasses/sunglasses /goggles frames you want can be found on Firmoo, and all are available for both prescription lenses and non-prescription lenses. Are you desperate to have a new look? Now here is the chance, Firmoo has launched a First Pair Free Program to people worldwide. You will absolutely fall in love with the excellent quality, affordable prices, fashionable designs, fast delivery and the good service after trying them with paying shipping only! You even can get a refund/exchange if you are not satisfied with them. It's totally Risk free, so why not have a try?

I wanted to link to the pair of glasses that I received, however, I can't find them anymore so I am guessing they are sold out. However, I can't rave enough about them. I received my pair of glasses pretty quickly once they were shipped. I would say it took less than a month to receive the glasses. They arrived intact, in a glass with a eyeglass cloth. I sent them my prescription and the glasses are just as good as the ones I bought at the eye doctor.

I would definitely recommend that you try Firmoo.

Questions? Visit Firmoo's FAQ page here.

One. Baseball starts soon. Like real soon, like less than a month soon. I am so excited. Can you tell?

Two. I got my glasses from Firmoo. Love, love, love them!

Three. I made a new free font post. I love fonts, don't you? Check out some of my faves here.

Four. I made it up to #6 on Bloglovin's "Up and Coming". Wee!

Five. I made a new signature. Like it?

So, I want to write a book about the crazy adventures I had as a single women during and after college. My friends found my adventures humorous, so I can only imagine that others might too? I made a list of the guys I dated (via a blog I had to help me remember the twisted men I managed to date)...Here's a preview (I had to use descriptions to help remember each guy):

Chris (the rapist who attempted "surprise sex")
Shane (large Hawaiian man who got me EXTREMELY drunk and tried to take me home)
Mike (Ginger who bought me too many long island iced teas)
"Boring" Ben
Kyle ("call me your whore")

Sound interesting to you?

Day #228: Wantable Jewelry Review

A couple months ago I saw a review another blogger did on a jewelry box from Wantable.co and I was instantly intrigued because I love subscription boxes AND I love jewelry. I checked out the website and discovered for $36/month you can either receive a box of full size make-up OR a box of 4-5 jewelry pieces.

Since my budget wouldn't allow it at the time, I opted to not subscribe but I have it on my list of things to try. So, when I was contacted by a Wantable representative to try out the February box, I jumped at the chance!

Here's what I received:

The orange fabric underneath the jewelry is a beautiful scarf! I am so excited to pair this with a cute outfit! I also received two bracelets. The wavy bangle set and the gold cable chain bracelet with a heart charm. I also received the arrow earrings and a disco ring.

I have worn several of the pieces and gotten many compliments on them! The box was shipped in an extremely timely manner. I was very happy with the box and would definitely recommend subscribing to either box!

Day #157: Crest 3D White Strips

A month or so ago, I received my very first VoxBox from Influenster! (Have you heard of Influenster? It's an awesome site...basically, you review products, earn badges and they send you stuff to try! Check it out here.)
My first box contained Crest 3D White Strips!

Crest guarantees that you will see results within 3 days. The strips are very easy to use. You just put the strips directly on your teeth and leave them on for 20 minutes a day, for 20 days. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

I have always wanted to try the Crest White Strips. I am a huge coffee drinker (what nurse isn't??), therefore my teeth are pretty...not white. I don't like to say yellow, but they are definitely NOT pearly white.

It's hard to tell because my camera sucks.

Anyways, I never tried the white strips because I didn't want to pay the price. They cost around $45 a box, depending on where you go to buy them. That is pretty much the only turn-off for me. I found the white strips definitely made my teeth whiter, however they do fade if you stop using them. Possibly because I drink coffee all the time! I was going to post my after picture, however it looks exactly the same and I am sure it's because my camera isn't the greatest.

However, I definitely recommend people try Crest 3D White Strips and sign up for Influenster! You won't regret it. I promise.

I received a box of Crest 3D White Strips Professional Effects from Influenster to try and review. All opinions are my own.
